Breaking the Bond of Addiction

Substance Abuse Program Philosophy

It is the philosophy of the Community Counseling Center that addiction is a medically recognized illness with psychological, emotional, and social implications. Treatment is geared to educate individuals about their disease, as well as assist them in developing the skills necessary to manage their lives in sobriety. It is only after life skills are developed that the chemically dependant can break the bond of addiction and grow toward a healthier, more productive, and satisfying life.

The family also becomes unhealthy during the progression of the addictive illness. While appearing to maintain normalcy, it is usually in desperate need of education and treatment itself. The center strives to provide a comprehensive system of care coordination and integrated treatment services to the addict and family through direct services or appropriate referrals.
